Questions we get

MacAid found less than I expected

Two things usually explain it. Files belonging to apps you have open are held back, and the app lists which apps and how much that costs you. Locations macOS protects are invisible without Full Disk Access, and the app says so rather than reporting them as empty.

Where did my files go

To Trash by default. Open Trash and use Put Back, or open Recovery in MacAid. Permanent Cleanup is available only as a separate manual choice for exact Safe to Reclaim items and cannot be undone.

Do I need Full Disk Access

No. Scans run without it. Granting it lets the app see locations macOS protects, which is where some of the largest caches live. It widens what a scan can find. It does not widen what cleanup is allowed to remove.

Can I use one subscription on several Macs

Each paid plan covers one Mac. You can release a Mac from Settings and activate another. Nothing is charged for switching.

How do I cancel

Settings, then Manage subscription. That opens the Stripe billing page. Your plan keeps working until the end of the period you already paid for.

What does the AI see

Size and age ranges, a category such as cache or log, and a random identifier for each item. It never sees file names, paths, contents, or hashes. The privacy policy lists exactly what is sent.

Reporting something that looks unsafe

If MacAid proposed removing something it should not have, tell us what it was and we will fix the rule. Include the category name the app showed, not the file name. We do not need the file name and would rather not have it.

Requirements

macOS 14 or later. Apple silicon and Intel.
